Comparing Delivery Services in Poland
Poland has one of the most developed parcel delivery networks in Central Europe. The combination of dense urban populations, a large e-commerce sector, and heavy investment from both domestic and international carriers means buyers generally have several realistic options regardless of where they live. This article compares the main services on the criteria that matter most when choosing how your order is shipped.
InPost – the dominant network
InPost operates the largest parcel locker network in Poland, with over 18,900 Paczkomat locations as of early 2026. The lockers are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which eliminates the problem of missed deliveries. Approximately 95% of parcels sent through InPost reach the locker within one working day.
Paczkomat size options
- Small (A): 8 × 38 × 64 cm, up to 25 kg
- Medium (B): 19 × 38 × 64 cm, up to 25 kg
- Large (C): 41 × 38 × 64 cm, up to 25 kg
For shipments too large for a locker, InPost Kurier24 handles door-to-door delivery at higher price points. The Allegro Smart! subscription includes free InPost shipping on qualifying orders, making it the default choice for Allegro buyers.
InPost offers free returns on parcels sent back through its network, a parcel tracking link sent by SMS and email, and optional cash-on-delivery (pobranie) for an additional fee. Insurance covers up to 5,000 PLN per shipment by default.
DPD Polska
DPD is a strong alternative for larger or heavier shipments that exceed InPost's locker dimensions. DPD operates a courier network across all Polish provinces and offers a Pickup point network (shops, petrol stations, and dedicated parcel shops) as an alternative to home delivery.
DPD's standard domestic service typically delivers in one to two working days. The carrier is used frequently by fashion and furniture retailers due to its higher weight limits (up to 31.5 kg per parcel). DPD Guarantee 12 and Guarantee 10 services offer time-window delivery for an additional fee — useful when you need to be home to receive a large item.
DHL Parcel Polska
DHL is particularly relevant for cross-border purchases, as its global network allows seamless international tracking from origin to Polish doorstep. For domestic shipments, DHL Express offers same-day and next-morning options in major cities — Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Poznań — at a premium.
DHL's MyDHL+ portal lets recipients change delivery date and location after shipment has been dispatched, which is useful for managing office versus home delivery depending on your week's schedule.
GLS Parcel Polska
GLS covers Poland through a combination of its own depots and a network of ParcelShop collection points. It is a common choice for Polish shops that sell to multiple EU countries, since GLS maintains strong cross-border coverage in Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Benelux region. Domestic delivery times align with DPD at one to two working days.
Poczta Polska
Poczta Polska remains the only carrier with a statutory obligation to serve every address in Poland, including rural areas where private couriers may not deliver. For buyers in smaller towns or villages, Poczta Polska may be the only realistic option for receiving orders. Registered items can be collected at any post office branch, and the network of Żabka convenience stores serves as additional collection points.
Transit times are longer — two to four working days is typical for domestic parcels — and the tracking granularity is less detailed than private couriers. However, for books, envelopes, and small registered letters, Poczta Polska remains cost-competitive.
A note on delivery times: All transit time estimates assume business days and do not account for public holidays. Polish public holidays — including 11 November (Independence Day) and 15 August (Assumption of Mary) — can extend times by a full day. Order tracking should always be the reference, not the estimated date.
What sellers are required to tell you
Under Polish consumer law and EU Directive 2011/83/EU, an online seller must clearly disclose the estimated delivery date and any additional delivery costs before you complete a purchase. If the seller fails to specify a delivery date, the law treats 30 days from the order date as the default deadline. Missing that deadline entitles you to set an additional reasonable period; if the seller still fails to deliver, you may cancel the order and claim a full refund including the original shipping fee.
